Program Details
Join the Wild River Youth XC team and embark on an exciting journey of cross country running! Athletes will build camaraderie with teammates throughout the season and gain an introduction to a life-long sport including; running form, racing techniques, and perseverance.
All athletes will receive:
- Wild River Running XC T-shirt
- Free entry for the All City Meet hosted by Twin Cities Track Club at Como Park on October 1st.
Dates:
Mondays and Thursdays, August 11th – October 2nd, 2025
*Note: practice will be WEDNESDAY 8/20 at 6 PM instead of Thursday 8/21 to allow us to attend a Stillwater HS XC event.

About The Coaches
Kate Eggers Leaf and John Leaf are former middle school teachers with a combined 45 years of running experience and 14 years of youth cross country coaching experience. John has coached middle school and high school cross country at Hopkins for 7 years. He also coached for and coordinated the Twin Cities Track Club Youth XC League. Kate has run numerous youth XC teams through Hopkins public schools and also coached in the TCTC Youth XC league. Both are USATF Safe Sport compliant.
Inclement Weather Policy:
Due to the lack of indoor facilities at Brown’s Creek Valley park, we will NOT hold practice in the event of likely thunderstorms, heavy rainstorms, or other severe weather. We will notify parents and guardians of cancellation by 5:00 PM via email and will post an update on this page of our website.
Refund policy
To ensure we are able to appropriately plan for programming, no refunds will be issued after August 1st.
